Vilanculos · Mozambique
5-bedroom villa perched above Fisherman's Bay with uninterrupted views of the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Welcome
Perched on the hillside above Baia dos Pescadores, Casa Pequeña commands what many consider the finest view in Vilanculos. The bay stretches out before you, drawing your eye to the silhouettes of Magaruque, Benguela and Bazaruto in the distance.
Built with local materials — thatch, timber, reed and lime render — the house is designed to breathe. Sea breezes channel through the bay, keeping things cool even through the hottest Mozambican summers.

Guest Reviews
"Breathtaking views in what I can only describe as paradise. The house itself was amazing — an absolute perfect getaway. Rachel made us feel right at home, arranging fresh seafood, preparing delicious meals, and sharing her knowledge of the beautiful country around us. I honestly can't find a single bad thing to say."
"Amazing piece of paradise! Ben was extremely helpful and even arranged with Rachel the housekeeper to cook dinner for us as we arrived very late on New Year's Eve. We have never had such a wonderful, communicative, caring host! The views are magnificent and the pool is a BIG plus."
"It's really a great and spacious house. Beautifully decorated rooms. Stunning view over the water and to Bazaruto island. Very easy beach access. Really beautiful garden — it's simply just a great house and property. We will come again for sure."
"Ben's place is one of the best coastal holiday experiences we have had thus far. The ideal location and views to die for. Rachel went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. Ben communicated with us every bit of the way. Will definitely be returning."
"Beautiful home positioned perfectly higher up on the dune with amazing views of all the islands. Set in a beautiful garden with super warm staff. Also very well equipped. We had such a great time."

Getting Here
A coastal town in Inhambane Province, Vilanculos is the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago — one of Africa's most pristine marine environments.
Things To Do
Beyond relaxing on the deck or beach, Vilanculos offers something for everyone.
All Mozambique beaches are public with free access. Casa Pequeña has two stairways to the beach — turn right (south) for the best swimming at Kingfisher Bay. Beach chairs and mats available — ask Manuel. Turn left and the beach goes on forever.
Game fishing beyond the archipelago — marlin, sailfish, kingfish and tuna. Recommended: Big Blue at the Aguia Negra hotel complex (+258 84 566 5006 · bigbluevilankulo.com). Big Blue also offer island trips and whale watching (June–October).
World-class diving on Two Mile Reef beyond the islands — visibility up to 30 metres in winter. The same operators offering fishing also provide diving excursions and equipment hire.
Take a traditional dhow to Magaruque for snorkelling and pristine beaches. Hire a boat for trips to Bazaruto, Benguerra, Santa Carolina and Magaruque. Look for dugongs, whale sharks and whales in season. All islands are part of the Bazaruto Marine National Park — visitor fees apply (600Mt SADC · 900Mt others · under 12 free).
Beach rides at low tide with rescued Zimbabwe farm horses. Mozambique Horse Safaris have recently moved horses to the north side — very convenient from Casa Pequeña. (+258 84 251 2910 · mozambiquehorsesafari.com)
Paddle the Govuru river inland delta 30km from Vilanculos — a birder's paradise with an incredible firefly display heading home through the reeds after sunset. (vilanculoscanoesafaris.com · +258 84 686 6341)
Just 100m from the house — opened January 2026. 18-hole mini golf, padel tennis, lawn bowls, snacks and drinks. (+258 848 777 364)
Browse craft stalls heading into town and along the road towards Dona Anna. A craft fair is occasionally held at Baobab Beach Lodge or Vilanculos Beach Lodge on Sundays. Activity bookings can also be made at the centre in the Kilimanjaro Café complex on BIM.
